The main airport in srilanka is Bandaranaike Memorial International
Airport, formerly known as the Katunayake International
Airport. It is the only international airport on the island
and is 34 km (21 miles) north of Colombo, near Negombo.
1 The national carrier is now known as Sri Lankan Airlines
following a management and share purchase deal of Air Lanka
by Emirates Airlines. The flight code remains as UL. The
airline has ambitious plans to make Colombo a hub airport,
especially for direct flights from England linking up with
direct flights to Australia. Flights are available to and
from Europe (Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London, Paris, Rome,
Vienna, Zurich)

By Sea
Sea travel is no longer a common route to Sri Lanka, although
some companies operate cruises. A tour operator in your
home country may be able to offer it as a package. Liners
such as the Marco Polo and the Queen Elizabeth II stop here
on round-the-world cruises, whereas others such as CTC offer
regional cruises. Some freighters offer limited passenger
