Medical Services
Most hotels have a doctor on call, I and most embassies can provide a referral list. Medical attention is available from many private hospitals, or from the state-owned Colombo General Hospital (Tel: 691111). It has the most advanced cardiology unit on the island and provides medical attention free to Sri Lankans. Foreigners are required to pay for certain services, There are general hospitals in Kandy (Tel: 08 23337), Negombo (Tel: 031 22261) and Galle (Tel: 0932276), Although many doctors have British qualifications, state hospitals have poor facilities and crowded wards. Private hospitals are well staffed, and are generally competently run and also comfortable. In the capital, you can choose from the following:

Pharmacies  Most Western medicines are available, but so are many Indian i substitutes -check where your I product is made. The Asiri hospital has a pharmacy that is open quite late, and the Osusala pharmacy in colomboTel : 694716 is open 24 hours.
